George Engleheart (1750–1829) assuredly deserves his place as one of the greatest of the British miniaturists, and certainly the most productive. Trained in the Royal Academy Schools and by Sir Joshua Reynolds, Engleheart had a long and prolific career, leaving an account book documenting over 4800 miniatures. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1773-1822.
