paper. Additionally, the portrait is signed on the obverse with a cursive E.
3 ½ inches high.
George Engleheart (1750–1829) assuredly deserves his place as one of the greatest of the British miniaturists, and certainly the most productive. Trained in the Royal Academy Schools and by Sir Joshua Reynolds, Engleheart had a long and prolific career, leaving an account book documenting over 4800 miniatures. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1773-1822. Engleheart's works may be seen in virtually every major museum collection.
