signed, circa 1835.
This is a luminous example of this rare artist's work.
Set in the original mixed metal ormolu easel frame, signed Bell lower left.
4 ½ inches high.
Rudolphe Bell (d. 1849) an artist of superior quality, moved to Paris from his native Switzerland. There he studied with Isabey before exhibiting at the Salon de Paris. He is also believed to have worked in London. Bell's sitters included Count A. Moltke-Hoifeldt and the Princess Mathilda Radziwill.
